Teens' English

Most secondary school students are willing to sit one of the Cambridge English examinations, according to their age and language competence. Exam preparation is much easier when the student's language level is close to the one required by the examination they want to sit, which is why we offer two types of courses :

1.   General English

Upon completion of a placement test, which all participants must take in order to register for the course, they are grouped according to their age (12 - 13 and 14 - 15, respectively) and their linguistic competence: A2 for KET for Schools, B1 for PET for Schools, B2 for FCE for Schools.

The aim of the General English course is to develop the starting point in exam preparation, as well as the necessary skills for success in such an examination. Therefore, each of the four skills (Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing) will be approached in real-life situations, without any direct reference to the exam. This will ensure some solid knowledge and skills which are necessary to any educated speaker, at the target language level. Once this goal has been reached, exam preparation only means practice on exam tasks and becoming familiar with the format, as well as the assessment criteria of the target examination.

The duration of the course is of 20 weeks, with weekly sessions of two hours throughout the school year, except for school and bank holidays.

2.   Exam Preparation

This course focuses exclusively on exam practice and approaches the most effective strategies to cope with various exam tasks for Cambridge English KET for Schools, PET for Schools and FCE for Schools, so it is very technical and includes all the components: Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking.  During the course, the teacher keeps a record of the scores of all the tests which students have to solve as part of their homework. The last session is a mock test, followed by feedback, which is sent to the students' parents (upon request).

Throughout the course, the results are converted into Cambridge scores, according to the specifications from Cambridge English Assessment.

The registration for this course does not depend on the completion of the General English course, but new students will only be admitted after a free placement testwhich indicates the fact that their level allows them to start preparation for the exam.

The duration of the course is of 10 weeks, divided into two-hour sessions.
